My dad purchased a brand new Charger the "spitten image" of this one in January of 1971. Not long after that, he gave the car to me. I drove it through my high school years and was the envy of a lot of guys, won every drag race I competed in except one (lost to a souped up Road Runner with a 4 speed), whacked a telephone pole and was grounded for over 7 months from driving any Hjerp family car and worked to pay the entire bill to fix it. I even had my first date with my wife Cindy in the car and used it as our wedding night getaway car. Those are just a few of my memories. Then, in 1976, I made one of the worst decisions known to mankind and I'm sure every Mopar enthusiast would agree. I traded the Charger in on a 1973 Vega!!! Not long after that, the dreams began of finding the Charger and buy it back!

Twenty-three years later, the dream came true. A doctor in California had just completely restored the car back to original and with Cindy's blessing, I recovered from the worst mistake of mankind and bought my "dream car" back. One day at a show, someone asked me what the car was worth and would I sell it. My answer was, "well you will have to ask Cindy or one of my kids after I die because I will never sell it! you see, this car represents many of the best memories of my life and there's no amount of money in the world that can every replace that!"
