I: So you all know I buy way
too many cars. But I decided its time to really spoil
myself. I went shopping for a front engine rwd.....so
of course that meant new Ram. (what else?) I wanted a
4 dr 1500 2wd with the hemi. After test-driving the hemi
I was not overly impressed and had decided to buy one
with a 360. The reasoning was the 360 jumped out of the
hole compared to the hemi aaaaand it was 2000 bucks cheaper
after you add the required 5 speed auto trans. You can
get the manual only in the 3/4 ton & up....figures.
So when I got serious was when Dodge offered the $2500
rebate. Funny thing, the very day they offered the rebate
they disallowed the 360 in the 1/2 ton ram......so very
interesting.
So
now I had no choice I had to get the hemi with the required
5 spd auto & now the required 4 wheel ABS. So I also
found out I could get another 500 off if I belonged to
the Farm Bureau so I joined & got another
500 off. Now it was time to nickel & dime the dealers
down. Melloy & Zangara came down a lot and I was very
impressed with both.....they obviously were actually interested
in selling a truck & not ripping me off. I was almost
ready to sign w/Melloy (beat Z by 100) When I said woooo
wait you bought your Dakota from Auges, I really need
to give them the shot....never mind they are an awesome
supporter of the club.
So
I got a hold of Joe Lashbrook of Auges internet services
ˆ one word.....WOW. What a nice guy...and low key sales
man...my kinda guy. Not only that but after we ran through
all the stuff with the model I wanted & options he
was $400 cheaper than Melloy! Well, now as they say, the
rest is history. So I ordered up my 4 dr 2wd Ram with
a hemi 5 spd & ABS, air, cruise, tilt, PS, power 4
wheel disk brakes & 391 gears w/a suregrip. Out the
door.....yes INCLUDING tax title & license, the grand.
