It has been confirmed that the Mopar Muscle Club of NM will not be given a permit for the park this year to hold the Mopar Fest. This is again due to COVID, the gathering restrictions, the possibility of another spike in cases, and the uncertainty of where all of this will be in June. Even if we did get a permit, there is no way for the Club to “man” the park enough to keep track of the amount of people that enter the park.
The Show Committee has met via Zoom several times to discuss the options that we have in getting Mopars together this year but in a safe and responsible way. We understand that many may still be hesitant to travel or participate in a large event like the Mopar Fest but still would love to get their vehicles out. We understand that our sponsors have also been impacted financially due to COVID, and we understand that finding a large facility that would let us hold this size of an event during COVID would also be tough.
For those of you who have attended the Mopar Fest, you have enjoyed the event and because of its success and the fun atmosphere of the show, you can probably tell the time, effort, and money it takes to put on an event of that capacity, especially in this short amount of time.
The Show Committee is extremely disappointed and has discussed all of this at length. They have decided to do the next best thing that we can to get our Mopars and our Mopar friends out safely. Unfortunately, this change makes it difficult for our out-of-town patrons to come enjoy and we miss you all greatly.
The Show Committee has decided to hold a Mopar Fest Cruise on June 19, 2021 in Albuquerque on historic 4th Street. Many successful 4th Street cruises have taken place there with many members participating and enjoying themselves and the Albuquerque spectators that come out to watch. This cruise is also where we will give away the 18 ft dovetail car trailer that we bought for the 2020 Mopar Fest and were unable to raffle off at that time.
The cruise will start with a meet-n-greet/cruise starting point at Car Crafters on Montano at 3:30 p.m. At 5:00 p.m., we will cruise to 4th Street as one, big Mopar group. This will give everyone time to gather, including folks who may come from the surrounding Albuquerque area. The cruise will again take place back and forth across 4th Street from Solar to Pueblo Solano. The owner of the lot on just North of Dan’s Boots and Saddles will have his Mac’s Steak in the Rough food truck set up in his lot and at 8:30 p.m., this is where we will draw the winner of the trailer.
Please come join us for this cruise to help us celebrate Mopars this year.
